The Arboretum at Penn State invites everyone to enter our annual jack-o’-lantern contest. A thousand pumpkins will be given away on Sunday, October 10, to contest entrants between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the Overlook Pavilion in the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens. Come early for the best selection! (You may also provide your own pumpkin for the contest.) Registration of contest entries will occur from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, behind the Overlook Pavilion. Ribbons will be awarded to the top three entries in seven age-based categories, and to the best Penn State theme, best Arboretum theme, best pop culture theme, and best-in-show. Jack-o’-lanterns will be lighted and displayed from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, October 15 and 16. Start planning your pumpkin’s design!
